Music
At St Michael’s Primary School, we believe that a rich and engaging music curriculum is essential for inspiring creativity and confidence in our children. Our approach focuses on quality over quantity, with each class dedicating two full terms to the teaching of music. This ensures that children can develop their skills in depth, building confidence, musical understanding and a love for performance.
Performance is at the heart of music at St Michael’s. Each class works towards a contribution to our much-loved Music Miscellany—a whole-school outdoor celebration held every summer and widely regarded as the highlight of our school calendar. In addition, our younger children in the Key Stage One take part in Christmas productions, giving them wonderful opportunities to shine on stage from an early age.
We are also proud to offer a wide range of instrumental lessons delivered by specialist peripatetic teachers, including piano, guitar, violin and drums. These opportunities enable children to further nurture their musical talents and discover a lifelong passion for music.
Through these varied experiences, we aim to ensure that every child at St Michael’s feels inspired, confident and excited by music.
